FEBRUARY CLE - Our first CLE of the year will be held on February 17, 2010 at 5 p.m. at the Markham Courthouse in Room 209. Jim Moster will be discussing long term care insurance and how it preserves estate assets. Mr. Moster is an attorney and financial advisor and works with attorneys who have clients in need of investment and retirement plans. This 1 hour CLE program is free for members so please take advantage of this membership benefit.

UPDATE ON EXPUNGEMENT/SEALING PETITION INFORMATION - Be advised that effective January 1, 2010, there are new and additional requirements for the filing of Expungement and Sealing Petitions. You may obtain revised Criminal & Traffic Expungement & Sealing Procedural Guidelines and related forms from any of the Clerk of the Circuit Court courthouses.
MOCK TRIAL - The SSBA is excited to announce their sponsorship of Thornridge High School in the 2010 6th District Court Mock Trial Program to be held on March 6, 2010. We are still looking for members to assist in the preparation of the Thornridge team. The Program is also looking for twenty evaluators for the night of the competition. SOUTH SUBURBAN COLLEGE PARALEGAL PROGRAM - South Suburban College has an ABA approved paralegal program that requires their students to take two internships before graduating from the program. Those internships are for credit, are non-paid, and involve the student doing paralegal work under the supervision of an attorney. The internship is the very last thing students are required to do. Therefore, by the time they get to the internship classes, they have already taken twelve paralegal classes. EMPLOYMENT LAW - As many of you know, Bill Borah has recently been appointed as an Administrative Law Judge with the Illinois Human Rights Commission. There could not have been a better selection.
